Let me tell you something right now.

Shakur Starling is not just a high school hooper. He is not just a name in Harrisburg. He is not just “up next.”

He is a problem.

A superstar student athlete out of Central Dauphin High School with the kind of poise you cannot teach and the kind of grit you cannot fake. Shakur is a junior, but he plays like a young man who understands the game at a college level already. The pace does not rush him. The moment does not shake him. Pressure does not break him.

It builds him.

Three levels. No fear.

Shakur can score at all three levels. He can attack downhill with purpose, stop on a dime in the mid range, and knock down the three when everybody in the gym knows it is coming. He is smooth, but it is not for show. It is the result of work.

He is a scorer, yes. 

But he is a winner first.

Defense is personal. Leadership is real.

He defends like it matters. He competes like it is life or death. He moves like the court belongs to him because he prepared for it. And when teammates need direction, he does not just talk. He leads.

That is rare.

To his parents: you raised more than an athlete.

You raised a young man with discipline. A young man with humility. A young man with purpose. The type of kid who makes a whole community proud because he represents more than basketball.

He represents character.

To Shakur: keep going.

Do not fall in love with the hype.

Fall in love with the work.

Because you are not just building a game.
