Dave Brown is not just a coach. He is a catalyst. He is the kind of man whose belief in you arrives before the world ever knows your name. In 2006 when most saw a young kid with potential he saw a leader preparing to unfold. He saw a future hall of fame student athlete trapped inside a teenager navigating adversity. He looked at Bryan Majors and saw more than a player. He saw a purpose. That is what true coaches do. They scout character before talent. They recruit heart before stats. They invest in soul before outcomes.

At Susquehanna University Bryan became a standout student athlete and finished with hall of fame level numbers yet the truth is this began long before the first college practice. It began the moment Coach Brown said yes when he saw a young man who barely knew what yes looked like. When he opened a door and stood behind it as a supporter a teacher and a father figure. He taught with strength and led with honor. He placed belief on a kid before the kid had enough belief to place on himself.

Fast forward to 2025 and Dave Brown is still writing chapters in Bryan’s life. While most people celebrate you after the finish line he is the rare leader who doubled down after the race began. He has now ignited a new moment in history by making Dwight High School the first NYC basketball program to ever wear Major Prep. That act is not about uniforms. It is about legacy. It is about a man saying I believed in you then and I believe in you now. It is about showing young men what trust looks like in fabric form.

Bryan Majors built Major Prep to remind people that preparation breeds greatness but every general has someone who believed in him when no one clapped. Dave Brown was that man. He was the shepherd. The source of quiet strength that said you belong here. Take ownership of your destiny. Prepare. Lead. Persist. He lived the message long before it became a brand.

This is what real belief looks like. It is steady. It is loyal. It is beyond seasons and scoreboards. It is the kind of belief that makes tears form because you realize someone never stopped rooting for you even when life got loud. Dave Brown is a life changer. A father. A builder of men. A leader who cultivates greatness in a way only a coach with calling can do. When the world reads this we hope it feels the weight of his impact. When Dave reads this we hope he feels honored. Seen. Respected. Because the truth is this brand Major Prep would not be what it is without the spark he struck back in 2006.

Coach Brown your fingerprints are on every chapter we build. Your belief is stitched into our fabric. You are living proof that one person’s faith can alter the destiny of another. Thank you for standing in our story yesterday for standing with us today and for helping ignite the future. This is your flower bouquet in word form. May your heart swell as you read it. You deserve every petal.

This young man is and always was ( as I’ve known him all his life) to have a kindness and big smile that lights up rooms!
Through the years I’ve seen his love of family and friends grow stronger.
I’ve also been proud to go to many of Coach Brown’s game at the Dwight school ( some wins and some defeats).. but most of all I could see the great relationships he had with his. Players/students!
I witnessed first hand ,the mutual caring and respect for “his” players and vis versa!
I’m so proud of you David for being recognized in this manner. And mostly for the man you’ve become!
    Love,
    Aunt Renée
    Kudos
